Satin Pet Rabbits
"The Rabbit Of Beauty And Distinction"

A mutation of chocolate Havana. Fine wool with a distinct sheen. Colors include black, blue, Californian, chinchilla, chocolate, copper,
red, Siamese, white and broken group. Bucks weigh 9 1/2 pounds; does weigh 10.

The Satin Breed is a great breed to raise and show. The Satin breed is used commercially for fur and meat.

The Satin Breed gets it's name from the special fur that makes it's coat different from all other breeds. The Satin breed has translucent hair shafts that reflect light and give it's coat a unique shine.

The average adult weight for a Satin rabbit ranges from 8.5 to 12 lbs with the Bucks normally weighing in slightly less than the does.

A high protein diet supplemented with sunflower seeds help maintain good body tone and healthy coat on these animals. The satin coat needs no special care other than routine brushing.

When looking for a good Satin rabbit to purchase for show there are a few things to keep in mind:

1) look for good solid animal with well rounded hind quarters,

2) Make sure your rabbit and the rabbits in it's pedigree are at or above minimum weight for show as an adult.

3) Look for a nice consistent rise from the shoulders up to the top of the hips when placed in show position.

4) Look for an animal that has a depth equal or close to equal it's width though out the length of the animal.

5) When satin fur is brushed in the opposite direction, it should instantly return to a flat lay in it's original position.

6) Look for a good shine on the coat which should be visible by the time the soft baby fur is lost at around 3 months.

This pet and meat rabbit comes in tons of colors. Personally the red satin color is the best color I have ever seen. I just love the red satin color. Shiny dark orange.

Holy Lambs and Bunnies

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139: 13-14

Pet rabbits are fun and I love them. After all my years of raising pet rabbits, I still find the New Zealand rabbit breed to be the best at producing meat. Enjoy your baby bunny rabbits.
