There was a soft and furry bunny…
He had long and floppy ears…
He was really very tiny…
So his Mommy kept him near…
Bounder Bunny was his name…
He hopped around here and there…
Chasing birds and butterflies…
In his world he had no cares…
His fur was white in color…
His tail was big and round…
Because his ears were so big…
He heard many, many sounds…
Sounds that told him different things…
Like when to run and hide…
Or when to burrow in his home…
And keep his eyes both open wide…
He was different from his brothers…
And from his sisters too…
He would take their things and hide them…
And make them oh so blue…
Then one day he decided…
That he would have some fun...
So he took some eggs and colored them…

And he hid them one--by--one…
He took his family to the field…
And under a tree, in the shade…
They found several pretty baskets…
Filled with candy he had made…
There were baskets for his brothers…
And for his sisters too…
This is to say "I’m sorry"…
For the tricks I’ve played on you…
He told them if they looked around…
They would find another surprise…
But they would need to look real close…
And open up their eyes…
As they laughed and searched and found each egg..
He knew right then and there…
That this fun thing, he must do…
For children everywhere…
So every year at Easter time…
He hops around the world…
Bringing candy and hiding eggs…
For all the boys and girls…
